The Reflection

I look into your eyes. I see your soul. I see your beauty. I see your pain. I look at your face; I see your smile lines. I see your frowns. I see your worries. I see that speck of grey hair. I see the bags under your eyes. I see your dimple.

Today, I see your frown. I see your swollen red eyes. I see the tears streaming down your face. I see your lack of confidence. I see your red cheeks and ears. I see the sadness that permeates through you. I see the doubts. I see the despair and hopelessness you feel. I see your wounded soul. I see you behind closed doors. I see the acne and stress marks on your face and skin. I see within. I see who you wished you could be. I see the anxiety that you face. I see the feeling of disgrace. I see the thoughts of throwing in the towel. I see the creases from when you used to smile. I see the anger in your eyes. I see you and what you despise. I see your poor defenseless stance. I see you look at yourself in a trance. I see you question, who am I? I see you before you start to cry. I look closer and I see your potential, but do you?

But, somehow, you look different today! You have a smile that is so contagious. You have a sparkle in your eye. You have bright skin. You have the look of eternal youth. Your skin glows. Your hair is full. You have a prominent dimple when you smile. You can light up a room. Your eyes are so amazingly beautiful. You are dressed to impress. You look like everything I am not.  Your soul literally glows. You know who you are. You know your potential. You brought your “A” game today! You impressed me with your witty remarks and perky sense of humor. You are inspirational. Your words hold meaning and are full of life! You radiate love and peace! You finally realized who you were called to be! You are me. I am you.

I see you and you see me! I am you! I see your truest self. Whether you agree with me or not, I see who you are. I am merely the outside reflecting what is inside of you. I am a figment of your imagination. I reflect what you want to see. I am your reflection. Always remember, I show you who you are, not what you want to see.
